The municipality of Santa Engracia del Jubera in La Rioja has opened a new municipal building that houses the town hall of this locality situated near Logroño, with its seven villages, the medical clinic, and a social hall, which Red Eléctrica de España helped to equip.
The town hall’s inauguration, which took place as part of Santa Engracia’s patron saint festivities, was attended by the president of La Rioja, José Ignacio Ceniceros, accompanied by the municipality’s mayor, Óscar Fernández, in addition to the minister of Development and Regional Policy for the government of La Rioja, Carlos Cuevas; the president of La Rioja’s parliament, Ana Lourdes González; and the delegate of the Government in La Rioja, Alberto Bretón.
Also in attendance was Red Eléctrica de España’s manager in La Rioja, José Ignacio Lallana. Red Eléctrica helped equip the centre by supporting the purchase of furniture and technological materials and donating entire computer systems that will be available to the facility’s users.
This initiative is part of Red Eléctrica’s 2030 Sustainability Commitment activities, which include measures to support the localities in which the company has infrastructures. In the case of Santa Engracia del Jubera, the Santa Engracia substation is an important electricity supply point in La Rioja. In addition to connecting the 400-kilovolt (kV) Barcina-Santa Engracia-La Serna axis to the 220 kV axis that feeds electricity to the community, this substation enables the evacuation of energy produced at the Arrúbal combined cycle plant, La Rioja’s main power plant.
