The Museo de las Ciencias de Castilla-La Mancha and Red Eléctrica de España have presented today in Cuenca the II entreREDes Olympiad, aimed at secondary school students in this region.

Following the first edition, held last year, in which 2,910 students from 30 classes of 2nd and 3rd year ESO (Spanish Mandatory Secondary School) and 7 classes of 4th year from across the region took part, a provincial stage has been added to the competition, in addition to the regional final, where the best teams from each level of each of the five provinces will compete.

The olympiad will start next 31 January and will end on 18 May in the Science Museum of Castilla-La Mancha, coinciding with International Museum Day.

The entreREDes digital educational game, created by Red Eléctrica, aims to test secondary school students' knowledge of the school curriculum in a playful, fun way, while at the same time explaining how the Spanish electricity system works and the relationship between electricity and social progress.

The players cover the map of Spain, travelling along the main lines and substations of the electricity transmission network, as they answer questions on six topics and the electricity sector.  With more than 8,500 questions and three ways of playing, entreREDes is a teaching support for teachers in the classroom, an attractive revision tool for students, and a fun way to spend time together as a family.
