Red Eléctrica’s project to assess the levels of physical activity, sedentary lifestyle and the style of life of Company workers has received the first runner-up prize of the NAOS Strategy Award 2015 in the workplace.

For four weeks, the lifestyle and physical activity of 70 people was measured through health questionnaires and a device to quantify, objectively, levels of physical activity, sedentary lifestyle and sleep throughout the day. It had the participation of the GENUD research group of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, with great experience in the field of objective measurement of physical activity and the study of the effects of physical and sporting practice on health, with whom Red Eléctrica last year signed a collaboration agreement.
For many years now, Red Eléctrica has been undertaking actions aimed at health promotion and prevention, in its entirety, within the context of the Healthy Workplace management model, in order to guarantee and promote a better quality of life of their employees. Thus, from 2014, the Company, guided by the principles of excellence, developed and approved the Healthy Workplace management system, whose 2014-2017 Action Plan includes health promotion and prevention as a key element of its strategy.
The NAOS Strategy (Strategy for nutrition, physical activity and the prevention of obesity) was launched by the Ministry of Health through the Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Security and Nutrition in 2005, with the aim of raising awareness among the population of the problem that obesity poses to health and also to promote policies and programmes to improve eating habits and promote the practice of physical activity.
