The "Young people for young people" project in Gran Canaria is launched

This project, sponsored by Red Eléctrica and sponsored by the Helsinki España University Network, will train young university students under the age of 30 in human rights matters and facilitate the transfer of these values ​​to schoolchildren.

Red Eléctrica de España collaborates with the Youth for Youth project, a Helsinki España initiative that will give academic training at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to university students under the age of 30 on human rights, and then they will have to work with schoolchildren of secondary education to convey the values ​​of tolerance, non-discrimination and equality.

On Friday 18 November, the Deputy Regional Minister for Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands, Adrián Mendoza; The interim dean of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Trinidad Arcos; The General Director of Universities of the Government of the Canary Islands; The General Secretary of the Helsinki Foundation, and Red Eléctrica’s Regional Delegate on the Islands, Ainara Irigoyen, inaugurated this initiative.

This is a pioneering project in the Canary Islands and will involve 30 young university students and 450 students from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of secondary education (ESO) from various schools in Gran Canaria.

In this way, Red Eléctrica will collaborate with two sessions in the training of university students. The first, on the contribution of the Company to the development of a new energy model in the Canary Islands and its commitment to society and to the creation of shared value. The second will be the presentation of EntreREDes, the digital educational game created by Red Eléctrica to review, in a fun and entertaining way, the curricular content of the school students and, at the same time, to provide society with important knowledge regarding the electricity system in order to promote the achievement of a sustainable energy model.
