Within the framework of the UN’s proclamation of 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies and on occasion of the holding of the ‘Semana de la Ciencia’ (Science Week), Red Eléctrica have begun to carry out the ‘Discover the light’ workshops in five museums of Castilla-La Mancha: Santa Cruz in Toledo, the Science Museum of Castilla-La Mancha in Cuenca and the Museums of Albacete, Ciudad Real and Guadalajara.

These activities take place under the agreement signed between the Culture and Sport Foundation of Castilla-La Mancha and Red Eléctrica de España (REE), and coincide with the National Week of Science and Technology.

The workshop ‘Discover the light’ is divided into two parts: a theoretical part, in which the basic concepts needed for the workshop, the execution and understanding of the experiments are explained, and a practical part, during which the teacher and the students take turns performing different experiments.

The aim is that all participants learn in a fun and easy way concepts such as refraction or reflection, how the human eye works, what is fibre optics, which are the basic colours and many other matters related to light and light-based technologies.

The mornings, with four planned sessions, are reserved for secondary school students and the evenings, during which two other sessions will be held, are open for the general public.
