After seven years of complex work, Red Eléctrica has this week completed the construction works of the new 220 kV line, between the Collblanc and the Trinitat substations, that unites the far north and south of the city of Barcelona.
This new line will allow a tighter meshing of the high voltage grid in the urban fabric of Barcelona, thus increasing the security and quality of supply of the city, as the number of axis that existed have now doubled.
This is an underground line of 13.5 kilometres in length that has represented a 35 million-euro investment. Its construction was complicated, as it is housed in a trench which crosses the urban area of the city, although the collaboration of the City Council of Barcelona facilitated the undertaking of these works at all times.
In addition, the infrastructure includes the new Facultats substation, the first of seven new substations that are required to be built before 2020 in the city of Barcelona, in accordance with the Planning.
