Red Eléctrica’s Electric Vehicle Control Centre (CECOVEL) received the EnerTIC Award in the Smart Vehicle category at the fifth edition of the awards ceremony. This project, which launched in 2017, is a solution designed by Red Eléctrica to coordinate the mass deployment of electric vehicles.

The enerTIC Awards recognize innovative technological projects implemented by companies and organisations committed to energy efficiency and sustainability. Susana Bañares and Joan Manresa, from the Demand-side Management and Smart Grids Department, accepted the award at a ceremony that took place in December in Madrid.

In order to be eligible for awards consideration, both public and private organisations presented projects in 16 categories, including Smart Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, Smart Energy, Smart Data Center, Smart International Projects, and Smart Vehicle.

The CECOVEL project is a Red Eléctrica initiative designed to support electric mobility in the current energy transition scenario.

Launched in January 2017, CECOVEL facilitates the monitoring of electricity demand for the recharging of electric vehicles, making these new electricity consumers visible.

This collaborative project is undertaken with participation from Spain’s main charging managers. Moreover, it currently monitors over 900 recharging stations.

This project makes it possible to see electric mobility in real time and integrate electric vehicle charging into the national power system, thus optimizing the use of renewable generation.
