Members of Red Eléctrica de España’s corporate volunteering group ‘EnREDando’ gave up their time to take part, for the fourth year running, in the seventh edition of the Companies Solidarity Day, an initiative promoted by the NGO ‘Cooperación Internacional’ and Atresmedia which seeks to bring companies closer to partaking in volunteering activities.
In this regard, fifteen volunteers coming from Red Eléctrica carried out harvesting work, set up vertical gardening supports and performed clean-up tasks in the organic vegetable garden the Fundación Juan XXIII has in the town of Velilla de San Antonio (Madrid).
This organic vegetable garden is one of the activities included within the Companies Solidarity Day programme, which in its seventh edition has had the involvement of over 1,000 employees of 46 Spanish companies that have offered their time to work in volunteering initiatives of 60 non-profit organisations. This initiative seeks to bring employees of the Spanish business fabric closer to volunteering and solidarity actions in different fields of work.
Volunteers helped workers from the Fundación Juan XXIII to carry out gardening clean-up tasks of trails, building and installing vertical gardening supports and harvesting vegetables such as onions, leeks and lettuces.
The Fundación Juan XXIII, a non-profit organisation selected by Red Eléctrica to carry out the volunteering actions of the Company is a centre of reference in the integration of people with intellectual disabilities and that helps improve their quality of life and that of their families, maximising the capabilities of these people, as well as their autonomy and their personal development.
