The Teror (Gran Canaria) Town Hall and Red Eléctrica have signed an agreement whereby the company will collaborate in the exterior lighting of the basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pino, patron saint of the diocese of Gran Canaria. Designated a national landmark in 1976, the basilica is one of the most important structures in the town’s historic centre.
The lighting of the building, which costs EUR 68,000, reflects the Town Hall’s interest in showcasing one of the municipality’s main heritage and tourist sites, and adapting the local lighting facilities to enhance the town’s buildings and landmarks.
The agreement was signed by José Luis Báez, mayor of Teror; Eva Pagán, General Manager of the Transmission Division at Red Eléctrica; and Ainara Irigoyen, Manager of Canary Islands Regional Office. Also attending the event were Pedro Ortega, Minister of the Economy, Industry, Trade, and Knowledge for the Canary Island regional government, and Daniel Pérez Varela, Red Eléctrica’s Manager of Infrastructure for the Canary Islands.
Red Eléctrica has various transmission network electrical facilities in the municipality of Teror and is eager to collaborate on projects of social interest promoted by the town council, in accordance with its sustainability commitment, which includes measures to support the localities in which the company has infrastructures.
