The ‘Red Electrica de España' wins its first Copa del Rey de Vela in the X-35 class

Victory, after six consecutive years of taking part in the Copa del Rey sailing competition.

The ‘Red Electrica de España' takes victory in the 34th Copa del Rey de Vela 2015, in the X-35 class after completing a great championship with five victories out of the 12 races that make up the sailing competition. The ‘Red Electrica de España' has been characterised by its regularity as it never finished lower than fourth place throughout the entire competition. The `Red Electrica de España' achieved a score of 20 points, 17 less than the second-placed vessel, the Italian sailing yacht ‘Legalain’ and 20 less than the third-placed vessel, the Spanish sailing yacht ‘Grupo Ceres’.

This victory has come after taking part in the Copa del Rey for six consecutive years, falling just short of victory on more than one occasion, having taken third place on two occasions, the last in 2014.

The members of the crew are: Javier Sanz (skipper and helmsman); Alberto Viejo (pitman); David Madrazo (tactician); Rodrigo Sanz (bowman); Marcos Iglesias (spinnaker trimmer), Carlos Martínez (headsail trimmer), Javier Sanz Jr. (mainsail trimmer) and Eduardo García (mastman).
