Red Eléctrica contributes to the sustainability of the municipality of Güeñes, in Vizcaya

 The city council will launch two information campaigns to raise awareness on the importance of recycling

Red Eléctrica and the City Council of Güeñes have signed a collaboration agreement for which the company will contribute 6,000 euros for the development of several environmental and social projects and initiatives on recycling of the Action Plan of Agenda 21 of the city council, whose key strategic lines are the sustainable management of the natural environment, the improvement of mobility and accessibility, and the sustainable management of waste.

To raise awareness on the importance of recycling, two information campaigns will specifically be launched, these will consist on the door-to-door mailing to the entire population of the municipality of a leaflet promoting good practices in recycling that will also be published in the the municipal magazine Gu In Berriak.

In this context of collaboration, Red Eléctrica has supported other initiatives such as the celebration of the Ekokultura Fair; the celebration of the International Day of the Environment and the development of didactic workshops on responsible consumption carried out by the council's educational centres within School Agenda 21.

This agreement is part of the corporate social responsibility policy of Red Eléctrica de España, which is associated with the promotion of progress, culture and social welfare to create long-term value in the areas where the company operates and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG); having been recognised by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) in 2017 as the world leader in sustainability in the Electric Utilities sector and also achieving leadership in the Utilities supersector, which includes the electricity, gas and water sectors.
