Red Eléctrica de España has received the diploma of recognition for the Cecovel (Electric Vehicle Control Centre) project, as part of the Sustainable Living in Cities project organised by Forética. The Cecovel project, which has been considered one of the best practices of corporate social responsibility related to urban sustainability, is a control centre that allows the integration of electric vehicles in the electricity system on a massive scale in a safe and efficient way.

Started in 2014, this project was created with the aim of being able to manage the demand of electric vehicles connected to the grid to facilitate the maximum integration of renewable energies and to achieve a more efficient electricity system.

The Sustainable Living in Cities initiative encourages companies to develop high-impact projects in collaboration with their stakeholders in order to contribute to achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals (United Nations): make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

This initiative is linked to the European project Sustainable Business Exchange, part of Enterprise 2020 and launched by CSR Europe, the European business network for corporate social responsibility made up of over 10,000 companies in 30 countries across the continent.  In Spain, the initiative has been collaborated on by the Spanish Office of Climate Change of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment as an institutional partner.
