Red Eléctrica de España’s Manager of the East Regional Office in the Valencian Community, Maite Vela, and the managing director of the Limne Foundation, Sales Tomás, have signed a collaboration agreement today for the creation of a riparian forest in Turia Natural Park.
The agreement that has been signed will last two years and will include two phases. In the first one, which will be carried out during 2018, a 7,000 square metre area of reed beds will be removed in the municipalities of Manises and Ribarroja del Turia; the quality of the water will be analysed, and the restoration of the riparian forest will begin.
In the second phase of this agreement, which will be carried out in 2019, the work will focus on the creation of a riparian forest and on building up and increasing the density of what was planted in 2018, as well as controlling the regrowth of reed beds and obtaining data on the evolution of water quality.
This initiative is part of the key actions of Red Eléctrica's Biodiversity and Climate Change strategies and shows the firm commitment of the company, reflected in its sustainability policy to drive active environmental management through biodiversity conservation, the restoration of degraded spaces and the efficient use of natural resources.
