The Chairman of Red Eléctrica de España, José Folgado, presented the awards last Friday to the best projects submitted by young researchers within the framework of the 13th Conference of the Spanish Association for Energy Economics (AEEE), held in Zaragoza on 1 and 2 February
Over 80 participants from different universities and companies, including Red Eléctrica, took part in the conference organised by the association in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zaragoza. During the two-day event, called "Energy transition and climate change", participants analysed the progress made in research and in the business sector regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the energy sector and defined an economic and technological framework that would allow the agreement taken on board by the countries at the 2015 Paris Conference on Climate Change to be put into practice.
The four awards presented by Red Eléctrica were granted to articles related to alternative renewable energy financing mechanisms; health benefits associated to the energy transition; potential impacts of solar energy, and Spain’s specific emission reduction and energy efficiency goals as per the Paris Agreement.
In addition to the Chairman of Red Eléctrica, the following authorities also took part in the closing ceremony of the conference: Ibon Galarraga, President of the Spanish Association for the Energy Economics; Alfonso Gómez, Director General of Energy and Mines for the Government of Aragon; Ignacio Montaner, Endesa’s Territorial Director in Aragon, and Sabina Scarpellini, President of the organising committee of the conference and professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zaragoza.
