Yesterday, Red Eléctrica organised an information day in La Línea de la Concepción (Cádiz) regarding the technical and environmental aspects of submarine links and, in particular, on the project for the electricity interconnection between Ceuta and the Peninsula.

The event was introduced by the Mayor of La Línea, José Juan Franco, and the President of the Campo de Gibraltar UNESCO Centre, Francisco Sancho, who were accompanied by the Manager of Southern Regional Office of Red Eléctrica, Miguel González. The purpose of the event was to provide information on the project to the main stakeholders, and to incorporate their suggestions and opinions into the environmental impact study now to be conducted.

The Nature Park del Estrecho and the Instituto de Estudios Campogibraltareños collaborated in this event. The project Director, representatives from the Red Eléctrica’s Environment Department, and also from ecologist associations, fishermen’s associations, and other organizations interested in the project participated in the lectures.
