Red Eléctrica de España’s Muruarte electrical substation welcomed a group of 50 master’s students in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de Navarra’s San Sebastián Advanced School of Engineering (TECNUN).

Among other issues, the company’s technical staff explained to the students how the Muruarte electrical substation operates and the importance of this infrastructure that connects the axis from the capital of Navarra to the 400 kV line from Castejón.

After a tour of the facilities, the students learned about the key operating processes that take place at the substation, as well as its contribution to the reliability, safety, and quality of the region’s power supply.

The Muruarte substation is one of Red Eléctrica’s main infrastructures in the autonomous community of Navarra. It consists of two parks: one of 400 kV and another of 220 kV. In addition to supporting the distribution network in and around Pamplona, the substation enables the evacuation of the renewable generation, primarily wind power, existing in the area.

The visit, which also included two master’s professors, is part of Red Eléctrica’s collaboration agreement with the Universidad de Navarra, through which training activities related to system operation and electric energy transmission are carried out.
