The Regional Delegate for Red Eléctrica de España in the Canary Islands, Ainara Irigoyen, and the General Manager of Radio ECCA, Lucas López, have signed an addendum to the framework collaboration agreement, signed earlier this year in May, to implement the training course 'Good Practices in the Use of Electricity', aimed at around one thousand people in the Canary Islands.
The course has very specific objectives: to provide general knowledge regarding the electricity transmission grid and electricity system operation, with particular emphasis on the specific characteristics of the Canary Islands’ electricity systems; to raise awareness on the activities of Red Eléctrica de España, and to develop an awareness regarding the responsible use of energy seeking to promote and facilitate the development of a growth strategy compatible with environmental conservation.
Radio ECCA is a non-profit organisation created in 1965 with a deep commitment to the principles of service. After 50 years teaching literacy and raising the cultural level of adults, Radio ECCA has become a basic educational tool for national and international public and private institutions with their own bespoke teaching and learning system, the "ECCA System", consisting of the synchronised use of three elements: teaching materials, audio classes and tutorials.
Red Eléctrica de España promotes this course in the International Year of Light, an initiative of the United Nations which aims to raise awareness about the importance of light and light-based technologies for the development of life and human well-being.
