The Director of Corporate Affairs and Institutional Relationship of Red Eléctrica de España, Ana Cuevas, and the Director General for Industry, Energy and Mines, and Vice President of the Energy Foundation of the Community of Madrid, Carlos López Jimeno, have signed a collaboration agreement for efficiency energy in the José María de Pereda state school, in Vallecas.
The project encompasses the replacement of conventional lighting with more efficient ones and lighting control systems that make a better use of natural light; the installation of motion sensors and emergency lighting systems that will improve not only the lighting efficiency and energy savings in the classroom, but also the safety of said educational centre. On the other hand, informative talks will be given to both students and teachers as well as parents, to improve understanding of how light and their associated technologies affect our quality of life, savings and sustainable development.
This commitment is part of the programme of activities that Red Eléctrica is carrying out in 2015 not only to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary but also the International Year of Light and Light-based technologies.
The purpose of the Foundation is to promote and boost research; the study and improvement of energy saving and efficiency; the promotion of the rational use of energy, and the optimal management of energy resources in the different economic sectors of the Community of Madrid.
