Red Eléctrica has organised training courses and furnished equipment and computers as part of an agreement signed with the Council of La Palma.

The Manager of Red Eléctrica’s Canary Islands Regional Office, Ainara Irigoyen, and the Councillor of Citizen Involvement and Emergency Interventions of the Island Council of La Palma, Carmen Brito, have met to analyse the results of the cooperation agreement signed to fight forest fires on La Palma.
Red Eléctrica has organised training courses on electrical lines and forest fires near electrical lines, and has equipped an Incident Command Post with a tent to be used as a command centre, as well as furniture, an electrical generator, and two portable computers with the management software required to fight forest fires on La Palma.
Both the training courses and the supplies for the Command Post were provided as part of a cooperation agreement the Council of La Palma and Red Eléctrica have signed to coordinate prevention, training, and fire-fighting measures. Red Eléctrica’s contribution has a value of 40,000 euros.
The agreement, which was coordinated by the Island Government’s Environmental and Emergency Intervention Service, defines fire-fighting intervention and coordination procedures, and also establishes the specific method for handling vegetation below electrical lines owned by Red Eléctrica
